How a parent reviews all family goals

The Family Goals view in KiddyCash gives you a single screen where you can see every savings goal your children are working toward — without switching between individual profiles. Whether you have one child saving for a school trip in Nairobi or three children saving for different things at once, this view keeps everything in one place.

What is a savings goal? A savings goal is a target amount a child is trying to reach by a set date — for example, KES 2,000 for a new football. You can learn how to set one up in How to create a savings goal for a child.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • A KiddyCash parent account with at least one child profile added to your family
  • At least one savings goal already created for a child in your family

If no goals exist yet, the Family Goals view will be empty. Create a goal first, then return here.

How to open the Family Goals view

  1. Log in to your KiddyCash account using the KiddyCash app or a browser.
  2. Tap or click Family in the bottom navigation bar (on mobile) or the left-hand sidebar (on desktop).
  3. Select Goals from the Family menu, or go directly to https://kiddy.cash/families/goal.
  4. The Family Goals screen loads, showing all active goals across every child in your family.

What you can see on the Family Goals screen

Each goal appears as a card. Here is what each card shows:

FieldWhat it means
Child nameThe child this goal belongs to
Goal nameThe label given to the goal (e.g., “School bag”)
Target amountThe total the child is saving toward, in KES or your set currency
Saved so farHow much has already been added to this goal
Progress barA visual indicator of how close the child is to their target
Due dateThe date the child wants to reach their goal by
StatusActive, Completed, or Paused

Goals are listed with the most recently updated goal at the top by default.

Viewing the detail of a specific goal

To see more about any individual goal — including the full transaction history and contribution settings — tap or click the goal card. This opens the goal detail screen. For a full walkthrough of that screen, see How to view a child’s savings goal.

Tips for using this view effectively

  • Review goals regularly. A quick weekly check from this screen helps you spot if a child has stopped contributing — useful before pocket money or M-Pesa allowance days.
  • Use goals as a teaching moment. Sitting with your child and showing them the progress bar together makes saving feel real. For ideas on how to make money visible and meaningful at home, read Why the family budget is your most powerful financial teaching tool.
  • Connect goals to your broader family plan. If you run a family budget, children’s savings goals fit naturally into it. See How to run a simple family budget kids can see and learn from for a practical approach.
  • Completed goals stay visible. A goal marked as Completed remains on the screen so you and your child can celebrate the milestone.
