How to Submit KYS for Your School
Before your school can send allowances, collect fees, or appear as a verified institution on KiddyCash, it must pass Know Your School (KYS) verification. KYS is the school-level version of identity verification — similar to how individual users complete KYC (Know Your Customer) before they can transact. Without it, your school’s account will have limited functionality: you won’t be able to receive payments, issue transaction codes, or run campaigns for students and families.
This guide walks you through the KYS submission process step by step.
What You’ll Need Before You Start
Gather the following documents before opening the form. Having them ready will save you time.
- Certificate of Registration — issued by your country’s education authority (for example, the Teachers Service Commission or Ministry of Education in Kenya)
- KRA PIN Certificate — required for schools operating in Kenya
- School letterhead — a scanned copy of an official letter confirming the school’s physical address
- Authorised signatory ID — a national ID or passport for the school administrator submitting the form
- Bank account or M-Pesa Paybill details — the account where KiddyCash will send or receive funds on behalf of the school
Make sure all documents are clear, current, and in PDF or image format (JPG or PNG).
Steps to Submit Your KYS
-
Log in to the KiddyCash Schools portal using your administrator credentials. If you manage more than one school, make sure you are on the correct school’s dashboard.
-
Open the KYS form. Go directly to your school’s verification page at
https://kiddy.cash/school/:school_id/know-your-school, replacing:school_idwith your school’s unique ID. You can find your school ID in your dashboard URL or under Settings → School Profile. -
Fill in the school details. Enter your school’s legal name exactly as it appears on the registration certificate. Add the physical address, county, and country. For schools in Nairobi or other Kenyan counties, include your sub-county.
-
Enter your financial details. Provide the M-Pesa Paybill number or bank account details that will be linked to your school’s wallet. This is the account KiddyCash will use to settle transactions in KES or your local currency.
-
Upload your documents. Attach each required document in the designated upload field. Double-check that each file is legible and under the maximum file size shown on the form (usually 5 MB per file).
-
Review and submit. Read through every section before clicking Submit for Review. You cannot edit the form after submission unless the review team sends it back to you with a request for changes.
-
Wait for confirmation. The KiddyCash compliance team typically reviews submissions within 2–5 business days. You will receive an email and an in-app notification when your school is verified — or if additional information is needed.
What Happens After Verification
Once your KYS is approved, your school’s profile will display a Verified badge. Students’ families can then link their kids’ wallets to your school, and you can start running allowance distributions, fee collections, and campaigns. If your submission is returned, the notification will explain exactly what needs to be corrected.

Note: School administrators also need to complete their own personal KYC separately. See how to submit KYC from your profile for that process.
