How to view a child task

A task in KiddyCash is an activity or chore you assign to your child in exchange for a reward — for example, washing the dishes for KES 50, or completing homework for a badge. Before a reward is paid into your child’s wallet, you can open the task detail page to see exactly what was set and what still needs to happen.

This article walks you through opening and reading a task. If you have not created one yet, start with how to create a task for a child first.

Before you begin

  • You must be logged in as a parent or guardian on the KiddyCash app.
  • At least one child must be added to your family profile.
  • At least one task must already exist. Tasks appear under the child’s profile once saved.

How to open a task

  1. Open the KiddyCash app on your phone and sign in with your account credentials.
  2. Tap the family icon at the bottom of the screen to go to your family dashboard.
  3. Select the child whose task you want to view. Each child in your household appears as a separate profile card.
  4. Tap the Tasks tab on the child’s profile page. You will see a list of all tasks assigned to that child — pending, in progress, and completed.
  5. Tap the task you want to open. The task detail page will load.

You can also go directly to a task using its unique link. Replace :task_id at the end of this URL with the actual task ID shown in your app: https://kiddy.cash/family/kiddy/account/task/:task_id. This is useful if you are sharing a specific task with a co-parent or caregiver.

What you will see on the task detail page

FieldWhat it means
Task nameThe short label for the activity, e.g. “Clean the kitchen”
DescriptionA longer explanation of exactly what the child must do
Reward amountThe KES value (or badge) the child earns on completion
Due dateThe deadline you set when creating the task
StatusShows whether the task is Pending, In Progress, Awaiting Approval, or Completed
Assigned toThe child’s name and their KiddyCash wallet
Proof of completionAny photo or note your child submitted to show they finished

Understanding task status

  • Pending — the task has been assigned but the child has not started.
  • In Progress — the child has acknowledged the task and is working on it.
  • Awaiting Approval — the child marked it done. You need to review and approve before the reward moves to their wallet.
  • Completed — you approved the task and the reward was paid.

In households across Nairobi and other cities where KiddyCash is used alongside M-Pesa, parents often link task rewards directly to wallet top-ups — so approving a task can trigger a real money movement. Take a moment to review the proof of completion before approving.

Need to make changes?

If the task details are wrong — wrong amount, unclear description, or the wrong due date — you can update them directly from this page. See how to edit a child task for step-by-step instructions.
