How to Change Your Account PIN
Your KiddyCash PIN is a four-digit security code that protects sensitive actions inside the app — things like approving allowance transfers, confirming payments from a child’s wallet, or logging in on a new device. Think of it the way you think of your M-Pesa PIN: it is the last line of defence between your account and anyone who picks up your phone.
This guide walks you through changing that PIN from inside the app. If you have already forgotten your current PIN and cannot get past the login screen, skip directly to how to reset a lost PIN instead — that process is different and starts from the login page.
Before you start
Make sure you have the following ready:
- Your current PIN (the four-digit code you set when you created your account).
- Access to the email address linked to your KiddyCash account. During the change, the platform will send a one-time password (OTP) to that address to confirm it is really you. If you are not sure how OTPs work, read how to verify an email OTP before continuing.
- A stable internet connection — mobile data or Wi-Fi both work fine.
Steps to change your PIN
-
Open the KiddyCash app on your phone and log in with your current credentials. If you manage a family account, a school account, or a business account, the steps are the same regardless of account type.
-
Go to your profile. Tap your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner of the home screen. This opens your account settings.
-
Select “Security.” Scroll down the settings menu until you see the Security section, then tap it.
-
Tap “Change PIN.” You can also go there directly from a browser or in-app browser by visiting https://kiddy.cash/profile/change-pin.
-
Enter your current PIN. You will see a four-digit keypad. Type your existing PIN to confirm your identity before any changes are made.
-
Check your email for an OTP. KiddyCash will immediately send a six-digit OTP to your registered email address. Open your email app, find the message from KiddyCash (check your spam folder if it does not arrive within two minutes), and note the code. The OTP expires after ten minutes.
-
Enter the OTP in the app. Type the six digits into the verification screen. If the code is accepted, you will move to the next step. If it fails, refer to how to verify an email OTP for troubleshooting.
-
Set your new PIN. Enter a new four-digit PIN using the keypad. Choose something you can remember but that is not obvious — avoid sequences like 1234 or your year of birth.
-
Confirm your new PIN. Type the same four digits again when prompted. This step prevents typos from locking you out.
-
Save the change. Tap “Confirm” or “Save.” You will see a success message. Your new PIN is now active immediately.
Things to know
- KiddyCash will never ask for your PIN by phone, SMS, or WhatsApp. If someone contacts you asking for it, do not share it.
- Changing your PIN does not affect your subscription plan, campaign settings, or any child wallet balances — even if you are managing multiple wallets for kids across Nairobi or elsewhere.
- If you recently updated your KiddyCash subscription and noticed new security prompts, see what’s new in subscriptions in KiddyCash and a closer look at subscriptions in KiddyCash for context on how plan changes may affect account features.
