How to view goal history from the family account
Before you edit or close a savings goal, it helps to see exactly what has happened to it — every deposit, withdrawal, and status change. This guide walks you through finding that record in KiddyCash.
What is goal history?
Goal history is the full activity log attached to a single savings goal. It shows you every transaction posted against the goal, who made it, when it happened, and the running balance after each entry. Think of it like a mini bank statement, but only for that one goal.
This is different from simply checking a goal’s current balance. If you want a quick balance check, see how to view a child’s savings goal first. Come back here when you need the full picture before making changes.
Before you start
- You must be logged in as the family account holder (the parent or guardian who set up the family on KiddyCash).
- The goal must already exist. If you have not created one yet, follow how to create a savings goal for a child before continuing.
- Goal history is available for active, paused, and completed goals.
Steps to view goal history
-
Open your family goals page. Go to https://kiddy.cash/family/:family_id/goal — replace
:family_idwith your own family ID, which appears in your account settings under Family Profile. -
Select the child. The goals page lists every child in your family. Tap or click the child whose goal you want to inspect.
-
Choose the goal. Each child can have more than one active goal. A list of their goals appears with the goal name, target amount, and progress bar. Select the correct goal.
-
Open the History tab. Inside the goal detail screen, you will see tabs: Overview, History, and Settings. Tap History.
-
Read the activity log. The log loads in reverse-chronological order — newest entries first. Each row shows:
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Date & time | When the transaction was recorded |
| Type | Deposit, withdrawal, bonus, or adjustment |
| Amount | In your local currency (e.g., KES for families in Nairobi) |
| Source | Where the money came from — allowance, M-Pesa top-up, badge reward, etc. |
| Posted by | Parent name, child, or system (for automated rules) |
| Balance after | Running total at that moment |
-
Filter if the list is long. Use the date range filter at the top of the History tab to narrow entries to a specific week or month. You can also filter by Type to see only deposits or only withdrawals.
-
Export if needed. Tap Download CSV to save the history to your phone or email it to yourself. This is useful for reconciling with an M-Pesa statement or reviewing contributions at the end of a savings period.
Why this matters
Checking goal history before editing a goal prevents accidental overwrites and helps you have honest money conversations with your child. If a goal looks off track, the history shows exactly where momentum slowed. That context is worth reviewing before you adjust the target or close the goal early.
